Filming Day 4

Today's filming was based on some feedback we were given. After showing our video to a group of students and teachers, they told us that it was unclear in parts who the two actors were suppose to be playing the parents. With this in mind, we went back to day1's shooting location and created 3 scenes to make the characters roles more obvious. One was based around the dad holding a photoframe with a picture of his son in an army uniform. We used a low angle shot and a close-up of the dad's face whilst he was holding the frame, to show his emotion of loosing his boy, whilst panning round slowly to reveal he photograph.

The second scene was to make it even more obvious that this actor was the father, by following him into the kitchen and watching him go to the cupboard to pick up a mug with "dad" written across it. We asked our actor to pause before reaching out for the mug, so the audience can be aware that it wasn't just an everyday action and that there was a message behind it.

The third scene we created was a short meaningful shot of the dad going to get a drink and glazing over to his son's school uniform, left hanging on the radiator.

After adding this three scenes into our video we then went back to the students and teachers who gave us the original feedback to see if it had made the story and characters any more clearer to which they felt it did.
